Abstract
A series of water soluble viologen-linked trisulfonatophenylporphyrins (TPPSCnV; n = 3-6) were synthesized. Viologen is connected with the t risulfonatophenylporphyrin via a methylene chain (-(CH2)(n)-: n = 3-6) in these compounds. The photochemical and electrochemical properties of TPPSCnV were investigated by using the absorption spectra, the fluo rescence spectra and the cyclic voltammetric measurement. The photoexc ited singlet state of the porphyrin moiety of TPPSCnV was quenched by the bonded viologen. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
