Ferromagnetic EuO multilayered films (MLs) were fabricated with nonmag
netic oxides such as MgO, ZrO2, and Y2O3. The EuO MLs showed increased
Curie temperature (T-c) and metal insulator transition temperature (T
-mi) than the bulk values due to oxygen deficiency. However, (EU)-E-15
1 Mossbauer spectra did not exhibit such an anomaly in T-c. It suggest
s a field induced magnetic component in the MLs. Significant increase
of coercive force (H-c) with decreasing EuO layer thickness was observ
ed only in EuO/MgO MLs. It was suggested that this increase was origin
ated from a kind of interface effect. (C) 1997 American Institute of P
