Abstract
Atmospheric temperature can be measured remotely by a lidar system tha t measures the ratio of backscattered signals from vibrational-rotatio nal Raman scattering by N-2 to pure vibrational Raman scattering. We p resent simulations of the performance of an airborne lidar system (bas ed on the Goddard Airborne Raman lidar) that employs this technique. ( C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
