The first-generation SpectraLAN module will allow existing 62.5-mu m m
ultimode fiber-optic links to carry four times higher data rates than
is possible with conventional methods. Four-channel error-free operati
on at aggregate data rates of 2.5 and 4.0 Gbits/s has been demonstrate
d over distances of 500 m and 300 m, respectively. The module is compa
ct and potentially low-cost.
