Abstract
Magnetic field gradient images are presented from the domain structure observed on {111}, {110}, and {112} fracture surfaces of float-zoned Terfenol-D (Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe1.95) using silicon cantilevers coated with Co Cr tips. The influence of both dendrite boundaries and growth twin bou ndaries on both the symmetries and spacings of the image features is c learly revealed. The effects of magnetic fields, applied in the specim en plane, are also presented. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
