Js. Boschwitz et al., BORDETELLA-BRONCHISEPTICA EXPRESSES THE FIMBRIAL STRUCTURAL SUBUNIT GENE FIMA, Journal of bacteriology, 179(24), 1997, pp. 7882-7885
The differential host species specificities of Bordetella pertussis, B
. parapertussis, and B. bronchiseptica might be explained by polymorph
isms in adherence factor genes. We have found that B. parapertussis an
d B. bronchiseptica, unlike B. pertussis, contain a full-length gene f
or the fimbrial subunit FimA. B. bronchiseptica expresses fimA in a Bv
gAS-dependent fashion.
