Creativity in all fields, including business, nourishes under intrinsi
c motivation-the drive to do something because it is interesting, invo
lving, exciting, satisfying, or personally challenging. This article p
resents the Componential Theory of Organizational Creativity and Innov
ation, which defines the factors-including intrinsic motivation-that d
etermine a person's creativity. This article also shows how the work e
nvironment can influence individual creativity.
