Abstract
Chromosome breaks occur in a hexaploid wheat (Triticum aestivum), vari ety Chinese Spring carrying a single gametocidal chromosome, 2C, from Aegilops cylindrica. In an attempt to induce breakage in barley chromo somes, we introduced the 2C chromosome into six wheat-barley addition lines. Plants disomic for each of the barley chromosomes and monosomic for 2C were identified using C-banding and meiotic analysis. Chromoso mal breakage was expected to occur in the progeny of these lines.
