T. Kirn et al., PROPERTIES OF THE MOST RECENT HAMAMATSU AVALANCHE PHOTODIODE, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 387(1-2), 1997, pp. 199-201
In a development program Hamamatsu Photonics improved their avalanche
photo-diodes significantly. The first milestones, reduction of the so-
called nuclear counter effect, the effective thickness contributing to
signals from charged particles, without increasing the capacitance, t
he dark current and the excess noise factor has been achieved. In para
llel the radiation hardness against neutron and gamma irradiation has
been improved. Results on the most recent prototype will be presented.
