A series of copolymers with varying content of porphyrin units was pre
pared by copolymerization of 5-(4-acrylamidophenyl)-10,15,20-triphenyl
porphyrin with N-isopropylacrylamide. Zn-containing analog of one of t
he copolymers was also synthesized. It was established that the intens
ities of some absorption bands of a porphyrin chromophore markedly cha
nge upon polymerization. It was shown that the absorption properties o
f the aqueous solutions of the resulting polymers gradually change nea
r LCST of N-isopropylacrylamide, whereas the fluorescence polarization
sharply increases upon phase transition.
