A series of new polynaphthylimides was synthesized on the basis of dia
mines and bis(naphthalic anhydride)s of various structures by high-tem
perature polycyclocondensation. The solubility, heat resistance, and t
hermal stability of the resulting polymers, as well as the rheological
properties of their melts, were studied. It was shown that the presen
ce of hexafluoroisopropylidene groups in a diamine component and hinge
d groups in a dianhydride component markedly improves the solubility o
f polynaphthylimides and their processibility by injection molding.
