Abstract
The photocatalytic degradation of gaseous trichloroethylene (TCE) with out water has been studied. The degradation products were determined t o be CO2, HCl and Cl-2, and the reaction stoichiometry was described a s [GRAPHICS] The degradation rate was found to be linear with 0.16 pow er of the illumination intensity. When the TCE concentration was low ( 10(-4) mol L-1 --- a little more), its degradation rate model could be considered as first order kinetics. A mechanism of valence band hole oxidation was proposed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
