Abstract
The effect of HCl on the analysis of Au, Ir, Pd, Pt, Rh and Ru was stu died. Emission intensities were found to decrease with increasing acid concentration. The extent of the signal suppression depended on the a nalyte type, but was independent of the analyte concentration. The pla sma excitation conditions were also influenced by the acid matrix.
