Sf. Boulyga et al., DETERMINATION OF MICROELEMENTS IN THYROIDS OF THE INHABITANTS OF BYELARUS BY NEUTRON-ACTIVATION ANALYSIS USING THE K(0)-METHOD, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 222(1-2), 1997, pp. 11-14
The ''k(0)-method'' of neutron activation analysis has been tested for
applicability to the determination of trace elements in samples of th
yroids of inhabitants from regions in Belarus affected to different de
gree by thyroid cancer among children after the accident of the Cherno
byl power plant. It is shown that the k(0)-method produces results ide
ntical to the ''relative method'' in neutron activation analysis. Sign
ificant differences in the elemental composition of thyroids from the
regions of Gomel and Minsk an: observed and may be related to the diff
erent levels of occurrence of thyroid cancer among children.
