This paper reports a radiochemical study on the thermodynamics of cesi
um adsorption on potassium copper nickel hexacyanoferrate(II) (KCNF) u
sing Cs-134 radionuclide as a radiotracer. The values of thermodynamic
parameters like Delta H degrees, Delta S degrees and Delta G degrees
have been calculated using the temperature dependence of cesium adsorp
tion on KCNF. These values indicate the endothermic nature of the adso
rption process. Freundlich and Langmuir izoterms have shown their appl
icability for the adsorption of cesium on KCNF at different temperatur
es and their corresponding constants have been calculated and interpre
ted. The Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) equation has also been applied to t
he adsorption data and the values of mean free energies of the adsorpt
ion process at different temperatures have been evaluated. These value
s indicate that the adsorption of cesium on KCNF is expected to follow
an ion exchange process.
