A method of measuring the linear displacements of a short-circuited co
il coupled to the object being monitored, based on the dependence of t
he phase of the induced voltage of a transfer eddy-current transducer
with a traveling magnetic field on the position of the coil is describ
ed. It is shown that it is possible to use the method to measure the l
evel of liquids and of free-flowing materials.
