Abstract
Spirality in plain-knitted fabrics is well known and is caused by the twist-liveliness or torque of yarns, However, yam torque leads to othe r effects as well, It is the aim of this paper to investigate loop dis tortion as a result of yam torque, and the contribution of retractive power and twist-liveliness of fine false-twist textured nylon yarns to the geometrical parameters and extensional properties of single- and two-feeder plain-knitted fabrics, A model will be put forward to repre sent the structure of plain fabrics knitted from such high-torque hosi ery yarns, Twist-liveliness affects both geometrical parameters and th e extensional properties of plain-knitted fabrics.
