Rp. Selvam, COMPUTATION OF PRESSURES ON TEXAS-TECH UNIVERSITY BUILDING USING LARGE-EDDY SIMULATION, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 67-8, 1997, pp. 647-657
An implicit solution procedure to solve the Navier-Stokes equations us
ing large eddy simulation (LES) for flow around building is presented.
Using this model the pressures around the Texas Tech University (TTU)
building are computed using different inflow turbulence conditions an
d compared with available field mean and peak pressure coefficients. T
he turbulence is generated by keeping periodic boundary conditions, by
using Gaussian distribution and random number generator and actual TT
U field wind data. The computed mean pressures are in good agreement w
ith held measurement. The peak pressures computed using Gaussian distr
ibution are much higher than the field measurement. The peak pressures
using the TTU wind data are much closer to the field measurements tha
n with the three methods.
