Abstract
An observed characteristic of all measured phi(rho z) curves is that b eyond the maximum value the curves are gaussian. Most Monte Carlo prog rams predict non-gaussian behaviour. By introducing electron stragglin g into a multiple scattering Monte Carlo model, agreement with the gau ssian behaviour of measured curves is obtained.
