MINOR SESQUITERPENE LACTONES FROM LACTUCA-VIROSA

One new and six known guaianolides, five known guaianolide glycosides, one new and one known germacrolide glycoside, one known melampolide g lycoside, and eugenyl glycoside were isolated from the roots of Lactuc a virosa. The new compounds were characterized as 11 beta, 13-dihydrol actucin-8-O-methacrylate and 3 beta, 14-dihydroxy-11 beta, 13-dihydroc ostunolide-3-O-beta-glucopyranoside by spectral methods.
