Abstract
The use of mechanical energy to synthesize superconducting oxides has been tested as an alternative route to high pressure. The textural and structural evolution of the Sr-Cu-O system submitted to mechanical mi lling has been studied by powder X-ray diffraction and a.c. magnetic s uceptibility measurements. A diamagnetic signal at around 50 K has bee n observed in samples milled under O-2 atmosphere.
