Two different oxides with the same 1:1:2 cationic ratio have been obta
ined in the Sr-Ca-Cu-O system by applying different pressure synthesis
conditions. Selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and high resolu
tion transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) show these phases formed
by new different superstructures. Tentative structural models based o
n the two-dimensional ordering of Sr and Ca atoms are proposed.
