Abstract
Thermopower and magnetic moment measurements in the series GdPt1-xCux, GcNi(1-x)Cu(x), and NdNi1-xCux are reported. The experimentally estim ated Fermi density of states is shown to be highly correlated with the onset of antiferro to ferromagnetic transition in the series. This su pports an earlier prediction [J. Appl. Phys. 79, 4815 (1996)] of the c oupling sign of a periodic array of localized magnetic moments. (C) 19 97 American Institute of Physics.
