Abstract
The nonlinear optical response of a noble metal overlayer on top of a magnetic film shows an oscillatory behavior dominating the total secon d harmonic output. The oscillation periods are twice as large as those observed with linear Ken effect measurements. To explain this effect, we decompose the total nonlinear susceptibility in different interfac e contributions. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
