Abstract
An accurate and simple quantitative method for determining levodopa an d methyldopa is proposed. Cerium(IV) has been successively used to rea ct with drugs in 2 M H2SO4 at 80 degrees C. The absorbance of colored products was measured at 510 and 550 nm for levodopa and methyldopa, r espectively. The method has been extended to the determination of thes e drugs in dosage forms. The results have been statistically compared with those obtained by the reference method.
