N. Witkowski et al., CONFIGURATION-DEPENDENT HYBRIDIZATION IN ELECTRON SPECTROSCOPIES OF CE-BASED COMPOUNDS, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 56(23), 1997, pp. 15040-15046
In this paper, we analyze Ce 3d core-level photoemission and inverse-p
hotoemission spectra in the framework of the single-impurity Anderson
model. We show that the Gunnarsson-Schonhammer model generally used to
describe spectroscopic properties of Ce-based systems cannot account
for the description of core-hole photoemission and inverse-photoemissi
on spectra with the same set of parameters. By introducing 4f configur
ation-dependent hybridization terms, the situation is significantly im
proved, and a satisfactory agreement between experimental and calculat
ed spectra is obtained. This result shows that, in contrast to what wa
s previously claimed for highly hybridized compounds, the spectroscopi
c data of cerium compounds can be described in the framework of the si
ngle-impurity Anderson model.
