T. Kuga et al., CONGENITAL CYSTIC ADENOMATOID MALFORMATION WITH EXTRAMEDULLARY HEMATOPOIESIS OF THE LUNG - A CASE-REPORT, Journal of pediatric surgery, 32(12), 1997, pp. 1751-1753
The authors report a case of congenital cystic adenomatoid malformatio
n of the lung (CCAM) with extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH). A baby g
irl suffered from Rh incompatibility and hemolytic anemia. She exhibit
ed respiratory distress. Chest radiography and magnetic resonance imag
ing findings showed a CCAM. A resection of the upper and middle lobes
of the right lung was performed. Histological examination showed a CCA
M of Stocker's type II with EMH. EMH in the lung is very rare. The aut
hors speculate that the cause of our it case originated from Rh incomp
atibility and development arrest in the CCAM lung. Copyright (C) 1997
