Single Co film with a thickness of d (d=0.3-1.8 nm) was prepared on a
Au buffer layer in an ultrahigh vacuum (10(-10) Torr) system using ele
ctron beam evaporation. Temperature dependence of the uniaxial anisotr
opy constants was evaluated up to the fourth order from the result of
electron spin resonance study. The critical exponent gamma' for the sa
mple of d=0.3 nm was evaluated to be gamma'=1.71+/-0.01, which is clos
e to the theoretical value of 7/4 for the two-dimensional Ising system
