Abstract
A detector setup is presented which has been installed in the Experime ntal Storage (ESR) Ring at GSI (Darmstadt) for investigations of elast ic and inelastic proton scattering on stored ion beams. Beams of vario us stable isotopes as well as - for the first time secondary Ni-56 nuc lei provided by the Fragment Separator (FRS) have been accumulated and cooled in the ESR. The detector system includes a ultra-high vacuum c ompatible silicon detector for beam monitoring and a Delta E-E silicon /CsI detector telescope for particle identification up to a proton ene rgy of 56 MeV. Results from luminosity measurements of Kr-86, Xe-124, and Ni-56,Ni-58 projectiles on various light targets (H-2, D-2, CH4, N -2 gas jets) are reported.
