Abstract
In five patients with chronic intractable ureteral obstruction, a fine -bore nephrostomy tube was placed in a subcutaneous tunnel to drain th e kidney without an external appliance. Good quality of life was achie ved for 6 months to 2 years, When conventional intraluminal stents can not be used, consideration should be given to subcutaneous diversion r ather than long-term nephrostomy tubes.
