Abstract
The use of stents in the management of prostatic obstruction started i n 1980 with the development of the ''partial catheter'' by Fabian in G ermany, Since then, a variety of metals and biostable and biodegradabl e polymers have been made into temporary or permanent stents for the m anagement of infravesical obstructions such as benign or malignant pro static enlargement, bladder neck stenoses, or urethral strictures, Thi s paper is an overview of two generations of temporary metal stents us ed in the patients with infravesical obstruction.
