Abstract
This paper deals with the yield and nutrient composition of Rosa laxa Retz collected from Xinjiang, China. According to preliminary estimati on, there are about 100000 ha of native multiflorous roses in Xinjiang . Through random sampling and collection, it was found that the averag e pollen yield was 82.7 g per bush per year. The nutrient composition of the pollen samples collected from three different regions-Alar, Tia nshan and Nanshan was: crude protein 6.62-8.25%, total sugars 15.27-17 .53%, and amino acids 6.94-6.99%. Various vitamins and mineral constit uents were also found in the pollen of R. lax-a Retz. The potential of this pollen resource as a food source and a health food is discussed.
