Abstract
Rietveld analysis of X-ray powder diffraction data was performed on Sm Ba4Cu3O8.5+delta, which was synthesized from precursors Sm2O3, BaO2, a nd CuO at 1000 degrees C in an oxygen atmosphere. SmBa4CuO8.5+delta ha s a cubic perovskite-related structure that is isostructural with YBa4 Cu3O8.5+delta, and a doubled perovskite unit cell parameter of 8.177 9 0+/-0.000 04 Angstrom.
