Abstract
Preliminary inclusive spectra for K+, K-, K-3(0), Lambda, and <(<Lamda >)over bar> are presented which were measured in central Pb + Pb colli sions at 158 GeV per nucleon by the NA49 experiment. A comparison with data from lighter collision systems shows a strong change of the shap e of the Lambda rapidity distribution. The strangeness enhancement obs erved in S + S compared to p + p and p + A is not further increased in Pb + Pb.
