K. Kanokwaree et Pm. Doran, EFFECT OF INOCULUM SIZE ON GROWTH OF ATROPA-BELLADONNA HAIRY ROOTS INSHAKE FLASKS, Journal of fermentation and bioengineering, 84(4), 1997, pp. 378-381
The initial specific growth rate of Atropa belladonna hairy roots in s
hake flasks was found to vary with the number of inoculum root tips. I
ncreasing the number of tips from 3 to 9 reduced growth rates in 50 an
d 100 ml of medium by up to 40%. These results are interpreted by cons
idering the influence of factors such as medium conditioning and oxyge
n mass transfer on root growth.
