Abstract
TDMA based digital systems like GSM for cellular and DECT for cordless application have created an increasing market within Europe and gaine d widespread acceptance also outside Europe. This paper gives an overv iew of both systems. The system requirements and their influences on h ighly integrated RF IC's for GSM and DECT are discussed in detail. The various trends of progresses in integration of both systems will be s hown, with the different advantages and the disadvantages of the conce pts in use. The challenges of increasing the level of integration and an outlook to future will be presented.
