Abstract
Given a piecewise monotonic transformation tau which is strongly trans itive and preserves an invariant probability density function f, a con struction is described which modifies tau very slightly but which chan ges f significantly in order to possess desired properties. This const ruction permits control of the global long term behavior of chaotic dy namical systems.
