The reaction of dissociative recombination is investigated taking into
account the electron and rotation-vibrational coupling. Basic equatio
ns are formulated within the framework of the multichannel quantum-def
ect theory for the collision T-matrix. Combining the rigorous account
of nonadiabatic coupling in the closed channels with respect to small
vibrational excitation with the contribution of far channels along the
energy (considered in the adiabatic approximation), we develop a flex
ible and fairly simple calculation procedure. A coupling among the clo
sed and open Rydberg channels via a dissociative continuum is studied
consistently. Isotopic behaviour of the partial and total cross sectio
ns, and rate constants of the reaction were analysed in detail. Compar
ison with experiment shows a high susceptibility of results to the bas
ic parameter of the theory.
