D. Horvath et A. Toth, TURING PATTERNS IN A SINGLE-STEP AUTOCATALYTIC REACTION, Journal of the Chemical Society. Faraday transactions, 93(24), 1997, pp. 4301-4303
Stable Turing patterns are presented in the simplest reaction-diffusio
n system containing a single autocatalytic step in a continuously fed
unstirred reactor. In the one-variable homogeneous system exhibiting o
nly bistability, the spatial instability arises from the decoupling of
the species by unequal diffusion. The results suggest the possibility
of experimentally finding Turing instability among the relatively com
mon bistable chemical systems.
