Abstract
The paper reports results of peroxidase isozyme studies of bamboo leav es by gel electrophoresis. Studies in 15 species under seven genera of bamboo namely, Bambusa Dendrocalamus, Gigantochloa, Melocanna, Meloca lamus, Schizostachyum and Thyrsostachys from Bangladesh revealed that peroxidase isozyme bands work as a taxonomic character at species leve l in bamboo taxonomy. The study also revealed that young rolled leaves of bamboos gave good resolution of peroxidase isozyme.
