EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL ESTROGENS ON MARINE FISH SPECIES

This article considers methods for the detection of oestrogenic effect s in marine fish. As a marker for oestrogenic effects, plasma vitellog enin was determined in Atlantic cod, Atlantic salmon and goldsinny wra sse using ELISA with homologous or heterologous antisera. The sensitiv ity of marine fish to oestrogen exposure is species-dependent and cod is a suitable species for monitoring the effects of environmental oest rogens. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
