The simulation of the winding process of a composite material pressure
vessel becomes very complicated with the use of pretension on the fil
ament strands. Nevertheless it is possible to model this phenomenon if
the process is considered in a layerwise way. It is very important to
observe that a rigid motion occurs, caused by the winding machine pul
lforce. From the equilibruim condition it is possible to derive the di
fferential equations from which one can find different solutions for t
he winding layer and the rest of the structure. These solutions contai
n some unknowns which can be determined by using the Gauss-Algorithm i
nvolving the boundary conditions.
