Abstract
The title complex has been prepared by the reaction of [Co(Hdmg)(2)(NH 3)(2)]Cl with CuCl2 in HCl solution (where Hdmg = dimethylglyoxime mon oanion) and its crystal structure has been determined by Xray diffract ion. The Co(III) and Cu(II) atoms lie on different two-fold axes. The coordination geometries around the Co(III) and Cu(II) atoms are octahe dral and distorted trigonal bipyramidal, respectively. The Hdmg chelat es Co(III) and bridges to the Cu(II) atoms to form a polyheteronuclear helical structure along the c axis. Based on the structure the IR spe ctrum of the complex is discussed.
