SARs may enable the evaluation of the toxic potential of chemicals by
drawing conclusions from available data on structurally-related chemic
als, thus reducing the need for further testing. The Advisory Committe
e on Existing Chemicals of Environmental Relevance (BUA) [1,2] of the
German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker [GDCh]) has c
ompiled data on the toxicity and ecological impact for several groups
of chemicals [3, 4]. In the present review, some common toxicological
properties for aliphatic amines were revealed after evaluation and com
parison of the toxicity data. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
