MECHANICAL RESISTANCE OF DIFFERENTLY SHAPED PEDS

In ordinary clayey loamy chernozems, differently shaped peds (granules , crumbs, and coprolites) are characterized by different distributions of ped rupture resistance. Treatment with ethanol-benzene mixture not iceably reduces the occurrence of the most rupture resistant peds and increases the occurrence of the least resistant peds. Digesting soluti ons form the following sequence according to their rupturing effect on peds: water < 3% acetic acid < 1% NaOH < snail sap < 1% NaOH and K4P2 O7.
