Abstract
A profound eye examination was done on 60 FIV-and 28 FeLV-infected cat s as well as on 14 cats with FIP. For comparison, cats lacking these v irus infections were also examined as controls. Ophthalmologic changes were detected in high frequency in the infected cats and in the contr ol groups as well. Most of the lesions could be characterized as signs of intraocular inflammation. FIV-specific lesions could not be observ ed ophthalmologically. FeLV-specific lesions consisted in an ocular ly mphosarcoma (3 cases), FIP-specific lesions in a generalized granuloma tous chorioretinitis in one cat. Other signs of ocular disease, which were previously considered characteristic for the mentioned virus infe ctions were also observed in the noninfected control-cats.
