Sv. Pakhovchishin et al., RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS OF MONTMORILLONITE IN THE PRESENCE OF PHOSPHATIDE CONCENTRATE, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 59(6), 1997, pp. 733-736
The effect of phosphatide concentrate on the rheological properties of
aqueous dispersions of the sodium form of montmorillonite was studied
. It was established that phosphatide concentrate additives enable us
to vary significantly the viscosity and shear stress of the dispersion
s changing the liophilicity of the montmorillonite particles. Penetrat
ing into the interlayer space of montmorillonite, the phospholipid mol
ecules form hydration shells around the mineral particles and their ag
gregates, thus efficiently reducing the dispersion viscosity and the i
ntensity of the mechanical energy dissipation during the flow.
