Kp. Tikhomolova et On. Slyadneva, MOTION OF LONG BUBBLES DUE TO A PRESSURE-DROP IN A HYDROPHILIC CAPILLARY, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 59(6), 1997, pp. 760-766
Experimental results concerning the motion of a gas bubble (column) in
a glass capillary filled with an aqueous solution of KCl and sodium d
odecylsulfate (a surfactant) are given; these include measurements of
the bubble velocity (u(c)) and the thickness of the solution film betw
een the column surface and the interior surface of the capillary (r(f)
) as functions of the pressure drop (head) that causes the motion and
the geometrical parameters of the system. The results of experiments s
howed that the systems in question are essentially labile. The resulta
nt data were compared with two theoretical dependences. The model base
d on the concept of total film flow was shown to display significantly
better agreement with the experimental data.
