A method is developed which permits one to determine the parameters of
distribution of the free energy of grain boundaries from the measurem
ents of angles at triple junctions of polycrystal grain boundaries. Th
e parameters obtained were used for discussing the conditions of the f
ormation of the connected network of interlayers of a surface-active L
iquid along the grain boundaries. The percolation theory was used to e
stimate the penetration probability and the rate of transport along th
ese boundaries, The conclusions made using this method are compared wi
th the results of a computer simulation and the direct measurements of
the permeability of rock salt polycrystals. The applicability of this
method in other systems is discussed.
