By using a chiral quark cluster model for a system of two nonstrange b
aryons, we analyze the consequences of the symmetry requirements from
the underlying quark structure. Quark Pauli and dynamical correlations
are studied putting the emphasis in the different repulsive mechanism
s implied in the NN (nucleon-nucleon) and Delta Delta systems. We find
an alternative explanation for the short-range repulsion in the NN sy
stem, up to now attributed to the one-gluon exchange potential. A Delt
a Delta interaction, derived from a basic quark-quark potential fitted
to the NN sector, is studied in detail.
